GODDESS SARASWATI

Embarking on the final piece of my Tri Devi series, I explored the creation of an artwork dedicated to the revered Indian goddess, Saraswati. This artistic journey mirrored the harmonious dance between simplicity and complexity, much like the goddess herself.

In this portrayal, Saraswati is bathed in moonlight, akin to a celestial disco ball 🪩, playing the Veena to weave the universe with the enchanting melodies of creativity and learning. A soft glow envelops her, symbolizing the radiant enlightenment accompanying true wisdom.

The tranquil setting by a flowing river signifies the continuous flow of wisdom. Behind the Veena lies a mirror-like arc, reflecting her purity within all beings who admire her ethereal finesse.

Adorned with sacred beads and pearls, Saraswati embodies spiritual enlightenment. A gentle breeze plays with her long hair, echoing the subtle currents of inspiration guiding knowledge seekers. She imparts wisdom through a sacred book illuminated by the symbols ‘Om’ and ‘Barbie,’ highlighting the source of early information to a child.

Surrounded by lotus flowers, symbolic of divine creation and the source of all things, the lotuses float in space, emphasizing the spiritual connection to the cosmos.🪷🪷

The inner face of the goddess reveals itself when one comprehends the concept of ‘Aham Bhramhasmi’ or ‘I am the universe.’ As she unveils her divine self, the aim is to evoke a profound appreciation for the wisdom and creativity that Saraswati embodies. 🕉️

Inspired by the renowned Spanish architect Gaudi, intricate patterns and mosaic-style motifs pay homage to the arts and sciences, with Gaudi serving as a metaphorical guru in this artistic endeavor, adding depth to the creative process.

During the creation of this artwork, I found myself reminiscing and offering a small tribute to all my mentors, thanking them for passing on their wisdom. The scarcity of Saraswati statues in my upbringing inspired this unique representation, influenced by personal experiences, meditations, and heartfelt discussions. This painting stirred a myriad of emotions within me, making it a deeply moving experience.
